Is scrubbing important? YES!
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and other impurities that sit on the surface of skin. These dead cells block oxygen and nutrients from deeper layers and prevent new, healthy cells from forming.
Scrubbing can also help smooth the surface of skin by removing pore-clogging debris, and can help even skin tone by encouraging new cell growth.
Salt scrubs with citrus or vinegar can also help kill bacteria and other junk living on the skin.
Many pantry ingredients have awesome benefits and can be used to make quick, easy scrubs at home. Dead sea salt is my preference due to the high mineral content. You can use salt alone or add things like nutmeg, coffee grounds, tea leaves, ground seeds/nuts, cacao or coconut. A little citrus or vinegar can be added to help fight bacteria. Mix your preferred ingredients with your favorite body oil or a non-comedogenic pantry oil like safflower, hemp seed or olive oil.
