DIY Avocado Hair Mask
We all know avocado has amazing skin benefits, as it's a common DIY remedy for dull, dry skin.
Avocado, and avocado oil, are pretty common household staple for their properties to condition and nourish. They can help with dry skin, unwanted spots, scars, and wrinkles among other things. It is full of nutrients,  healthy fats, and vitamins like B, C and E...besides being so naturally-creamy-indulgent that it's often called "nature's mayo", it's a practically perfect skin food!
Well, aside from all of these great skin benefits, all of those amazing avocado vitamins and nutrients are excellent for hair too! We're using fresh avocado today for an avocado hair mask to condition, repair, and refresh those locks.
If you're an avocado fan like me, you probably sometimes find yourself with a piece or two of leftover avo that's on its last legs.  Instead of tossing it in the trash, treat yourself to a pampering avocado hair mask to give your hair some new life. Not only are avocados exceptionally conditioning for hair, but they can actually prevent hair loss and even promote hair growth. Vitamins in avocados protect and strengthen hair on a cellular level, while the natural fats help with dry hair and breakage. Avocados have been used as far back as Egyptian times for skin and hair care, and can easily be made into a quick, natural hair treatment. Rather than add a million other ingredients, we are keeping this short and sweet, with all of our focus on our star ingredient.
Avocado Hair Mask:
- Blend about 1/4 cup of fresh avocado with 3 Tablespoons of water. Blending will give you a smooth, thick texture.
- Add a splash of apple cider vinegar if desired to help slow oxidation of avocado (ACV is also excellent for conditioning and smoothing hair).
- Cover with cap
- Leave on 30 minutes - 1 hour and rinse.
Besides being high in conditioning fats, avocados contain vitamins B and E which promote healthy hair and scalp. Vitamin B is an essential vitamin for hair growth, as it works at a cellular level to strengthen and protect the hair shaft, and Vitamin E is excellent for repairing damage. These vitamins can also help reduce hair loss and breakage, especially when due to a vitamin or nutrient deficiency of lack of vitamins. An avocado hair mask can be very helpful for restoring life and shine to dull hair, and they are a great pantry staple for eating and wearing - considered by some to be one of the world's healthiest foods.
