Garden Update July

A quick update on my home garden! Beans are coming in so nice, I really love growing these. They are so delicious just lightly cooked, and they grow so darn fast. With about 12 plants in 6 spaces, I have enough beans to use for dinner every day which is pretty darn cool. I planted some black beans from seed which was fun, and these have a pretty purple tint to the pods which I have to say is part of the reason I like to grow them. I guess I like pretty foods, but I'm fairly certain I'm not alone in that....

My cucumber plant is getting lots of pretty flowers, so I'm excited for my cukes to start growing! This plant should get about 6-8 feet long I think, but I haven't grown cucumbers before so I am not sure what to expect as far as yield.  I can get a nice basket of green things just about every day though, and that's pretty darn cool. Fresh, organic veggies every night for a one-time purchase and a little elbow grease, not too shabby if you as me. Here's some of my arugula, little gem lettuce, haricot verts, plus herbs - parsley, garlic chives, and basil, I got my garden started so late but regardless I'm happy with the yield so far. I have my cooler season garden getting started, so am excited to see how things grow in the later months. I haven't done a lot of fall and winter gardening, so I am looking forward to trying something new. If you have some fall and winter crops, I'd love to hear about them! Let me know what you're growing or what you've grown in the past.
After some work in the garden I snapped a shot relaxing on the front porch while dinner roasted in the oven. BBQ veggies with homemade ranch - yes.
