How to Make Sugaring Caramel For Hair Removal

How to Make Sugaring Caramel for Hair Removal
Sugaring is a more gentle way to remove hair than wax since sugar does not adhere to your skin as much.
It can also be rinsed away with just water and does not require warming or removal strips.
Many over the counter products are loaded with chemicals, but we're using just 4 inexpensive (and REAL!) ingredients for this recipe.
I've got some easy steps and tips to make this process easy to follow.
Sugaring recipe:
2c. Sugar
1/4c. Strained lemon juice
1/8c. Water
1t. Salt

Cook on low heat, swirling every few minutes. No stirring!
Check your sugar levels by resting a spoonful of the caramel in ice water (see YouTube video for full explanation).
Once your caramel is no longer pliable - firm but not cracking - pour into a clean bowl.
Stir every few minutes as sugar cools and color changes.
Once cooled, move caramel to an airtight container or portion into greased plastic.
Use a small piece to remove body hair, just spread in the opposite direction of hair growth, wait a sec, then pull in the same direction as hair growth.
Repeat over missed areas and clean up with cool water.
Moisturize or cool after to reduce lingering redness and bumps.
Happy ripping!
Some of the ingredients I found in over-the-counter hair removal products:
PARAFFIN, METHYL HYDROGENATED ROSINATE, RETINYL PALMITATE, PEG-3 DIROSINET, ETHYLENE VA COPOLYMER, FRAGRANCE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE, GLYCERYL ROSINATE, TOCOPHEROL ACETATE, BENZYL BENZOATE, METHYL PARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN,
ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, RED 17, GLYCOL ESTER, POLYCYCLOPENTADIENE, HYDROGENATE PALM GLYCERIDE, BHT, ASCORBYL BALMITATE

Hey! I must have tried tons of recipes and spent hours in the kitchen, trying to make sugar wax. But yours in the first recipe that I've gotten right on the first try! With no mess! Thanks so much!

Hi! Great video - just made the 'caramel' for the first time... right now I'm letting it cool. Wondering if the stirring at the end of the video is 100% necessary or if it just speeds up the cooling process? I'm trying to figure out for the future whether I can skip the stirring and get myself a few extra z's! (I only get the kitchen to myself for stuff like this after I get everybody to bed, infant twins included!)

can you use brown sugar and can this be refrigerated for storage?

Do you cook this on low the whole time? Other recipes say cook to boiling on medium to high heat and then turn down to simmer. It seems like cooking but it on low the whole time would take forever, so I just want to double check that's what I am actually supposed to do.
